One year since Boston

Hi everyone, QUE PASA?!

Ok, judge me, I haven't kept up with my blog duties when I was in Boston and I never finished my posts when I came back.

But today is special.

Today it's exactly one year ago (12 VERY short months) that I went to Boston.

Frankly, I can't really believe it. Hell, I can't even believe I WENT in the first place. I know, I know, the whole "it was surreal, I'll never forget it" crap was already thoroughly discussed. But these past 52 weeks were so mega hectic that I didn't really stop to think about it. I was too busy getting picked to be in the 2012 EF brochure representing Boston, graduating, meeting up with friends I met in Boston and reading so many books I can't even start counting. I was busy getting an A for my Cambridge exam (*Chandler happy dance for my C2*) and with doing research on gum and winning a prize for it with m awesome partner.

Did anyone even ATTEMPT to really understand what we all did there? Because if you did, PLEASE enlighten me. ;)

One year ago around this time I was freaking out about being on my way to 3 VERY exciting months. I remember not having ANY idea what to expect and I remember arriving to a VERY hot airport where two transfer people were waiting to pick me up. After that it was action, action, action with something to do every day (even if that was sitting on the bench at the frontdesk and try and come up wit something to do).

365 (or was is 366?) days ago the best summer ever started. A summer that learned me a lot about everything, really. Among those things I learned that "if modals are perfume, referencing is glue", that people think I'm older than I actually am, that Salem is a very boring town, but that NYC most certainly is not and that 100F is VERY hot (as in: melting on chairs hot). In that summer I learned to actually chat with strangers on the T (and occasionally in the bus) and I learned that when in Boston never to take the 86 bus and that you CANNOT go to Boston and NOT go to the Cheeesecake Factory. It's blasphemy.

I learned that the word "nomadic" is apparently a very widely used word in the English vocabulary. And for the people who care: the flashcards are safe and sound with me, leading their new life together with my postcard collection (Tina Turner is watching over me as we speak); as is the very first edition of the Daily Orange by the way.

I learned that Argentinians aren't as bad as they seem (sorry, Brazilian predudice hihi), Venezuelans come in TONS, Germans aren't that bad either (Dutch one this time), Brazilians ARE as fun as I remember them to be, Italians are actually pretty cool and that "powernapping" is a... powerfull habit.

I got introduced to How I Met Your Mother, which should be watched by every creature on this planet, Modern Family and even I Love Lucy. I got taught about the wonders of Hawaii and about the historic value of New England. And most importantly I know how to distinguish the words "bitch" and "beach". And how could I leave Muchacho out of the equasion. Ah, how I miss Muchacho..

I can safely say that it IS possible for merely 3 months to change one so drastically. There has not been one day in the past year in which I haven't thought about or mentioned something that has to do with Boston or my time there (yes, even miss Cuckoo passed my thoughts from time to time). See how I keep my promises? (See the post I made on my last day there ;) )

So while I wait to hear if I got picked to study Medicine or not, I'll just scroll through my blog (which will not be an entire day's worth of posts to read, unfortunately. Sorry about that), look into my album and even contemplate finishing my second one (woopsie!!), work at the post office (yes, as of last week I deliver mail. A dog even barked at me the other day! :O Mail delivering vibe: I'm doing it right), have driving classes in which I try my hardest not to bump into anything or anyone, listening incessantly to my iPod (do the songs Alejandro, Airplanes, Dynamite and Party in the USA (this one's for you Pia.. haha) ring a bell?) and being regular ol' me. Which basically means laughing at everything, saying thingy in every English sentence I utter, forgetting a sentece right in the middle of it (all in all being and airhead, really) and being addicted to Facebook (Cityville is my new guilty pleasure).

So with this, my lovely people, I conclude this post. I hope very very very very much that I can return to Boston soon to check if the Bostonians aren't messing with my precious city and if the Internationals aren't messing too much with my precious EF ;) If someone wants to sponsor me, send me an e-mail hehehhe ;)

Talk to y'all sooooon, see ya later alligator, tchau, tschüs, doedoeeeg, ciao, adios amigos, au revoir et bisous, etc.

xx Isa, Bella, Isabella,, IMDb or whatever other name you want to call me.
